In February 2019, the Club passed a resolution to incorporate Berkhamsted Golf Club into a company limited by guarantee. During that Special General Meeting, questions were raised whether we would also consider a change to the way we manage club affairs and we gave an undertaking to review our current structure and revert back to members with our findings and proposals.
We are pleased to say that since 1st October 2019, the Club has been operating as a limited company and the Management Committee has also completed a draft of an alternative structure to improve the governance of the Club.
Over the years, many members have shared their views regarding the lack of continuity in the management of club affairs, that the role of Club Captain has become extremely demanding, being a golfing ambassador and leading discussions on Club business and strategy.
The proposed change in the governance was presented to the members of Berkhamsted Golf Club in an informal meeting on Thursday 5th March 2020.
