Juniors Section

As a Club we would like to build a competitive Junior section with depth in ages and abilities. The Club would like to support the Juniors in their golfing journey, whether that be getting a handicap or playing for the County or Country. We run an exciting programme of golf for all ages and abilities that provide our Junior members an opportunity to develop and improve their skills in an enjoyable environment.

We have a qualified Assistant Professional, Tom Cutting, who was a Junior member here himself. Tom runs regular group lessons on a Saturday and golf camps during the school holidays. All Juniors are encouraged to take lessons in-order to help them maximise their golfing potential and as an incentive, the Club runs promotional offers to subsidise some of these lessons.

Juniors are encouraged to participate in County events such as the Futures Tour for 6 to 11 year olds and the iTour for 10 to 14 year olds and play in the Junior Open competitions. Results from these events are fed into the County Order of Merit which then allows the County to offer Academy coaching places to up and coming players.

Featured below are some of the various activities organised by the Club to help our Juniors develop and be involved:

Competitions

• Monthly Junior competitions.
• Monthly 9 hole Blue Course competitions (run alongside the Monthly competitions for those Juniors who are in the process of obtaining their handicaps).
• Opportunity to play in Club competitions and knockouts.
• The Hertfordshire Junior Champion Club.

Roll up

• We have a regular roll up on Saturday afternoons for those who would like to play 9 or 18 holes.

Matches

• We have a small number of home and away fixtures against local Clubs and with the various sections within our Club. We are looking to expand this and to enter County League matches in the future.

Professional’s Competition

• The Club’s Professional and his team organise a Professional’s Competition during the Summer School holidays.

Away day

• In the Autumn we organise an away day for the Juniors. This provides them an opportunity to play a course within the region and help them develop a team bond.
