Thank you for taking time to read our introductory note whether you are returning regulars, first timers or just want to know what is happening. Should you have any queries or questions please feel free to contact either of us at any time.
This is the main competition played over 12 weeks throughout the season. A couple’s best 6 scores will count toward the cup. Very few couples play all 12. The format will continue to be American Greensomes with the thoughts being that players will go straight to their partner’s ball after the drives and will be ready to proceed, speeding up play. Also it is felt that it gives everyone just that bit more of a game. We are aware of people’s concerns as to the pace of play and we will be monitoring this.
Following consultation with Vice-Captain Steve Titford, we felt that it would be better served by offering a 9 hole Blue Course Competition on Greensomes days for couples who feel that this may suit them better. The Trophy would be played for over the course of the season the same as The Loving Cup, but with best 4 scores counting.
As a result the first round, Sunday 26 March will be a one off “warm up” round. The sign up sheet is posted, but if cannot get up to the club please let us know and we will enter you and your partners. It does have a 9 hole option.
After a pleasant afternoon playing on the course it is hoped that most will stay for supper. One change that we are very keen to facilitate is doing away with the long wait before people are able to go and dine. The cold buffet evenings were popular, and if we can do a themed evening as well as may be a barbeque evening we can appeal to most.
Ideally we would to see some new faces in the early weeks, tell us what you think. We’d love to see some couples, who recently haven’t played as often as they used to, return and give us a try. We are looking forward to some fun, good golfing and nice food.
Any new members, if you are keen to play but do not have a partner contact us and we’ll see what we can do.
