It is not an idle boast to say that Berkhamsted Golf Club enjoys the reputation of being one of the top golf courses in the country. Established in 1890, it enjoys the most beautiful setting amongst woodlands, heather and gorse and has the most unusual characteristic of having no sand bunkers. The club hosts many County events and hosts one of the top amateur events each year, the Berkhamsted Trophy, which has seen names such as Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, Lee Westwood and many others coming through the circuit on their way to greater things.
It is fair to say that Berkhamsted is a golfers' golf course. If you depart from the fairways it will most likely cost you a shot, or worse. It is important for you to know that if your Society is not predominantly of players with handicaps of at least better than 24 you may find the going too tough for an enjoyable day. On the other hand, if you do have a strong field of reasonable handicaps you will have the most delightful golfing experience.
All of this is enhanced with a traditional Club that offers a warm welcome and takes great pride in providing good hospitality.
You would expect that standards at the club are all-important, as much for your enjoyment as that of the members. To be sure that there is no confusion on such matters, please follow the dress code link for details of what is required.
If you and a colleague wish to come and play the course to experience what we have here, please let us know and we will accommodate you for 18 holes at an introduced green fee rate. Any additional people will be charged at the full rate.
